Police Questions Former Ceypetco Chairman

Police recorded a comprehensive statement from former Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Cooperation Asantha de Mel, Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Asian Mirror.

De Mel was questioned over a complaint regarding the ‘hedging deal’ which is said to have caused a loss of US Dollars 200 million to the government.

He was questioned at the Police Financial Crime Investigation Division, ASP Gunasekara said.

Meanwhile, former director of Divi Neguma Project R.K. Ranawaka was questioned over a complaint regarding the expenditure for the Divi Neguma National Convention held on November 21, 2014. It is said that this event cost a staggering amount of Rs 63 million.
