Bribery Commission Files Lawsuit Against Sajin de Vass Gunawardena

Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed a lawsuit at Colombo Magistrate Courts against UPFA MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena, a spokesperson from the Commission told ‘Asian Mirror.’

He has been summoned to courts on March 31.

The Voice against Corruption Organization headed by JVP Provincial Councilor Wasantha Samarasinghe filed a complaint against MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena in January. Samarasinghe alleged that the former Minister has purchased aircrafts under a private company called Cosmos Aviation Service. He also stated that Sajin de Vass Gunawardena has obtained US $ one million from a local private bank keeping these aircrafts as collateral and sent the money to the United States. Sajin de Vass Gunawardena was questioned by the Commission on several occasions.

On March 12, he told media that he will provide answers to the relevant institution adding that everyone would be able to witness what transpires after the conclusion of investigations.

Sajin de Vass Gunawardena was a former CEO of Mihin Lanka Airlines. He was also appointed as the Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs during the tenure of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
