Priyantha Sirisena's Attacker Remanded

The suspect who assaulted Priyantha Sirisena, a brother of President Maithripala Sirisena, was remanded until April 8 by the Polonnaruwa Magistrate Courts.

Saputhanthrige Don Nishan Lakmal Saputhanthri (34) was charged on inflicting serious injury and attempted murder.

Priyantha Sirisena, also known as ‘Weli Raju’ is a businessman engaged in sand mining. He was attacked with an axe in the back of his head last evening at around 7pm at Hathare Ela, Polonnaruwa.

During interrogations, the suspect revealed that the crime was committed in retribution as Priyantha Sirisena had yelled at his parents using foul language.
