President Sirisena Returns From Trip To China

President Maithripala Sirisena returned to the island after the conclusion of his trip to China, at 12.20am on board Singapore Airlines Flight SQ 468.

President Sirisena left for China on March 25. He met with the President of China Xi Jinping and held discussions on bilateral relations and regional matters. China and Sri Lanka signed four agreements during this meeting which took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Sirisena also met with Chinese PM Li Keqiang and other leaders.

Sirisena then attended the Boao Summit in Hainan Province, China, in which he spoke on intra-regional cooperation in Asia. He met with several foreign leaders and held talks on bilateral relations.

However, Sirisena could not attend the funeral of his brother Priyantha Sirisena, who died following an axe attack. Priyantha Sirisena's funeral was held yesterday at Polonnaruwa.
