A massive fire broke out at a shoe factory in Nawinna, Maharagama, a short while ago, Police Media Unit told Asian Mirror.

The Media Unit also said that the factory is located at Rajamahavihara Road, close to the Highlevel Road in Nawinna.

Meanwhile, Fire Brigade was sent in to douse the fire.

Police said that the factory has suffered severe damage due to the fire. The damage was reported to be at least Rs 40 million. The exact reason for the fire is still unclear.
