Aluthgamage Considers Alternatives

Former minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated that if those who have been alleged of corruption are not given nominations from Sri Lanka Freedom Party, they will take a decision on an alternative.

Participating ‘Neth FM Unlimited’ program on Wednesday (08) Aluthgamage stated that whatever their future step is, it will be a turning point of the political history of Sri Lanka.

He added that anyone can complain anonymously to bribery commission with names of ministers and parliamentarians. Mere allegations cannot be considered as proof of guilt, he said. Therefore, denying nominations based on allegations is totally wrong, unless allegations are proven, Aluthgamage argued. He also said that is was against the principles of democracy.

Several leaders of the SLFP have warned that the party will not give nominations for those who have allegations of corruption in the next parliamentary election.
