Letter Against Summoning Of Rajapaksa Handed Over To President

A letter against the summoning of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Bribery Commission was handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena.

The letter was signed by 55 UPFA MPs.

Opposition MPs launched a sit-in earlier in the day at the parliament against the decision to summon the former president to the Bribery Commission. The MPs who started the protest called a press briefing at the parliamentary complex earlier in the day. The letter conveyed their opinion that the Bribery Commission had overstepped its mandate by summoning former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Opposition MPs who started a sit in at the parliament insisted that they will not move out of the Parliamentary Chambers until the decision is revoked.
