'Bribery Commission Should Inform Speaker Before Summoning MPs'

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa told parliament that the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption has to inform the Speaker before it summons a MP to the commission to record a statement.

He made this observation giving a special statement at the Parliament a short while ago.

The parliament convened this morning after being adjourned on Monday following a protest against the summoning of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Bribery Commission.

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa summoned the Chairman of the Bribery Commission and came to an agreement on the matter last evening. He informed of this to the MPs who were protesting inside the parliamentary chamber. However, the MPs refused to leave and stayed overnight.
