Parliament Adjourned For Special Meeting With President

Parliament was adjourned again till 12.30pm for an urgent meeting with President Maithripala Sirisena who is currently in Parliament.

On Monday, (20) a tense situation arose after a group of opposition parliamentarians started a sit-in at the parliamentary chamber in protest over Former President Rajapaksa being summoned before the Bribery Commission.

Therefore Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa adjourned the session until 9:30am Tuesday (21).

However when sessions began this morning, Opposition MPs walked down to the well of the House and started protesting again. The parliament was adjourned for 15 minutes. After it was re-convened, it was adjourned again for a special meeting with president.
