Basil Rajapaksa Returns To Sri Lanka

Former Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport a short while ago.

He arrived on board Flight EK 348 from Dubai, which landed at 1.45pm.

A large crowd including some politicians gathered outside the airport to welcome the former minister.

Basil Rajapaksa left the country on the early hours of January 11, days after the defeat of his brother Mahinda Rajapaksa at the 2015 Presidential Election.

He was also the then National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party but resigned after the election, accepting responsibility for the defeat.

Meanwhile, Basil Rajapaksa will be handed over notice to attend courts regarding the case pertaining to the alleged financial misappropriation at the Divi Neguma Department.
