Protesting MPs Leave Parliament

UPFA Parliamentarians who were engaged in a protest against the government since Monday left the parliament premises a short while ago, to be greeted by the protesters outside the parliament.

MP Bandula Gunawardena said earlier in the day that they ended their protest since they had achieved their goals. The parliament was assured that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa will not be summoned to the Bribery Commission.

The Speaker informed the parliament that the officials of the commission will visit Rajapaksa and record a statement.

Meanwhile the debate on the 19th Amendment scheduled for this week was postponed until April 27 as the parliament was adjourned.
