Attorney General To Be Axed Due To Delay On Inquiries

The Attorney General, who was under fire from various quarters over soft-pedaling on the investigations with regards to the former first family and their close associates, is to be removed from office within next two weeks, top government sources said.

It has now been revealed that many investigations have been slowed down due to delays on the part of the Attorney General's Department. Many have raised concerns that these "deliberate delays" are aimed at protecting the top echelons of the previous government from law enforcement authorities.

Several UNP stalwarts recently complained to the Prime Minister that the Attorney General was directly responsible for these delay on and measures should be taken to expedite ongoing investigations.
