Most Venerable Galagoda Aththadassi Thera was elected as the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter of Siyam Maha Nikaya. He became the 21st Chief Prelate of Asgiriya Chapter.

The election was held this afternoon at the Asgiri Vihara Mangala Uposathagaraya.

The office of the Mahanayake fell vacant following the passing away of Maha Nayake Most Ven Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera who held the post for 15 years.

The Anu Nayake of the Chapter Most Ven.Galagama Aththadassi Thera was overseeing the functions related to the Chapter.
