Government Decides To Introduce Special Arrangements For Differently Abled Voters

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya on Friday (29) said that the government had decided to introduce a system to ensure that all differently abled citizens can cast their vote at elections.

Addressing a press briefing at the Ministry of Media and Information Deshapriya stated that there will be selected places in the future, which are more accessible to the differently abled people as voting centers.

People who are on wheel chairs will be provided facilities to cast their vote before a polling officer in the polling station, he further described.

He also said that a survey would be conducted to identify most suitable locations to establish those polling centers.
