DV Upul Prohibited From Foreign Travel

The Colombo Magistrate Court prohibited Southern Provincial Councillor D.V. Upul from travelling overseas, following a request by the CID.

The court instructed authorities to impound the passport of Upul, who is being investigated over controversial comments made by him on the police Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID).

The Colombo Magistrate Court also instructed the CID to obtain video and audio tapes containing the statement from media organizations.

At a recent meeting in Hambantota, Upul threatened that he is waiting for the return of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister so that he could watch the police officers of the Financial Crimes Investigations Division being stoned to death.
