Some UNP Nominees Have Not Worked Even For A Day – Ravi Says In Resignation Letter

February 05, 2014

UNP Colombo District Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake, in a special letter to Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says he is deeply sad and disappointed with the decisions taken at the National Nomination Boards of the UNP with regard to selection of candidates for the Colombo District.

Explaining his reasons to resign from the nomination board, Karunanayake says  when it came to the Colombo district, Party Leader made a unilateral decision that the national nomination board will make decision without reference to electorate organizers of the Colombo District.

“Almost all the electorate otrganizers of Colombo are against this practice and I wish to place on record my objection to the same. You and the national nomination board have  disregarded the local level activists who are qualified and capable of showing good results and introduced people into the list from nowhere. While some of the nominees have not worked for the party have not even for a day, there are some who have been working to the detriment of the party, “ Karunanayake charges in his letter.

He says he will resign and disassociate from the work of the national nomination board and show solidarity with all the Colombo District organizers.
