Tissa Attanayake Appears At Bribery Commission

Former Health Minister Tissa Attanayake was summoned by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption this morning.

He is to be questioned over the acceptance of the post of Health Minister in December 2014, after a Presidential Election had been announced.

Attanayake was appointed Health Minister on December 11, 2014, and served in this capacity until January 9 this year.

In April, former president Mahinda Rajapaksa was also summoned to the commission to record a statement over the incident. However, a protest by a group of parliamentarians at the House forced the commission to revoke the summons.
