PC Elections A Day After Geneva Vote

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya has decided to hold Western and Southern Provincial Council election a day after the vote on the resolution against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC.

Sources from Geneva confimed 'Asian Mirror' that the vote on the US sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka on March 28, towards the end of the Human Rights Session in Geneva. 

Elections Department today announced that th elections will be held on March 29. 

The two Provincial Councils were dissolved  on  January 12 after the Governors of the   two councils signed gazette notifications with regard the dissolution of the Councils. Although the date of dissolution is decided by the governmemnt, according to the present law, the election date is announced at the discretion of the Elections Commissioner.
