South Africa Chase Down 327

South Africa started their campaign in the Tri Nations Tournament played at Zimbabwe in a positive note chasing down a formidable target of 328 set by Australia with 20 balls to spare.

AB de Villiers played a captain’s knock despite cramps that troubled him, scoring 136 in just 106 deliveries. His knock contained 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. With Faf du Plessis, who scored 106 off 98 balls, de Villiers put on 206 for the third wicket, taking the game out of Australian hands. JP Duminy chipped in with a useful 33 after du Plessis was dismissed, not letting the wickets fall in the wake of a breaking of the mammoth partnership.

Earlier, it happened to Australia after the third wicket partnership of 114 between Aaron Finch and captain George Bailey was broken. Finch was dismissed for 102 which he took 116 balls to score. The score was 229 for 3 when he was dismissed. Bailey was wrongly given out for 66 off 54 balls and then Australia lost 2 wickets quickly, including that of Glenn Maxwell. Steven Smith’s and Michel Johnson’s cameos took the score to 327 for 7. Imran Tahir, who had had a relatively bad tournament in Sri Lanka recently, was the pick of the bowlers, keeping it tight and taking 2 for 45 in 10 overs.
