Janaka Bandara Tennakoon Sends Resignation Letter In Poetry

Minister of Provincial Councils and Regional Development Janaka Bandara Tennakoon sent his resignation letter to President Maithripala Sirisena this morning.

Interestingly, his letter was written in poetry, through which Tennakoon explained his reasons for the decision.

Tennakoon has expressed his displeasure on the July 14 speech by President Maithripala Sirisena and his cooperation with the UNP.

Tennakoon called for a press briefing following the President’s speech, and requested for an immediate meeting of the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera recently said that several SLFP ministers were seeking the approval of Central Committee of the SLFP to resign from their posts. Tennakoon was said to be among them.
