Parliament Adjourned: Unrest By JO Delays Debate On Hambantota Port

Parliament was adjourned today after the Joint Opposition (JO) staged a protest against the essential services gazette on petroleum.

Accordingly, Parliament will meet again on 4th August.

The unruly behaviour by the JO has pushed back the debate the Hambantota Port agreement that was scheduled for today.

The agreement with China on the Hambantota Port was expected to be debated in Parliament today, and passed tomorrow (29).
