Supreme Court Extends Interim Order Against Dissolution Of Parliament Until December 10: Ruling Likely On Monday

December 07, 2018

The Supreme Court today extended the interim order against the dissolution of Parliament until December 10.

The Supreme Court's ruling on the matter is likely to be delivered on Monday (10).

However, President Maithripala Sirisena can still withdraw the gazette notification dissolving Parliament before the Supreme Court announces its ruling.

When contacted by Asian Mirror, sources close to the President said there was no decision by the President to withdraw the gazette notification on the dissolution.

Lawyers appearing for petitioners and intervening petitioners presented their submissions today, as the court continued its sessions for the fourth consecutive day.

The case is heard before a seven-member bench presided over by Chief justice Nalin Jayalath Perera.
