Thilanga Rules Out National Government With UNP: Says SLFP And SLPP Will Contest Next Election As an Alliance And Form A Coalition Govt

UPFA MP Thilanga Sumathipala today said the SLFP had no plans to form a national government with the UNP.

Sumathipala, speaking to the media said there was no truth in media reports saying that the SLFP would form a national government with the UNP.

The Parliamentarian said the SLFP would contest the next national election as an alliance with the SLPP and form a coalition government.

However, it is reliably learnt that several SLFP MPs already supporting the government will receive ministerial portfolios in the coming days.

Among them are Wijith Wijayamuni Zoysa, Piyasena Gamage, A.H.M. Fowzie, Manusha Nanayakkara and Indika Bandaranayake.

Their new portfolios will be recommended by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this week, informed government sources said.

Despite supporting the government, they still function as members of the SLFP.
