"I Am Still An SLFPer: I will Consider Reaccepting Governorship If President Makes A Request": President

Former Eastern Province Chief Minister M.L.A.M. Hizbullah told the media that he would consider recapping a governorship against if President Maithripala Sirisena requested him.

Addressing the media in Colombo, Hizbulla said he was still an SLFPer and would continue to work with the party.

Hizbulla came under pressure to step down from his position following a hunger strike carried out by UNP Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera.

Along with Hizbulla, all Muslim MPs in the government also stepped down from their ministerial and deputy ministerial positions in an act of solidarity.

However, the majority of Muslim MPs who stepped down from their posts have accepted their positions.
