Well-known tea exporter Rohan Fernando has been appointed the Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom.

Fernando is the husband of Varuni Amunugama Fernando, the co-owner of Triad which handled President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's election campaign and the daughter of Minister Sarath Amunugama.

He replaces Kumarasinghe Sirisena who resigned from office earlier this month. Sirisena is the brother of former President Maithripala Sirisena.
