Suspects Arrested For Destroying Anavilundawa Ramsar Wetland Released On Bail

Two suspects who were arrested by the Police for destroying the Ramsar wetland in Anavilundawa have been granted bail.

They were released on sureties of Rs. 10 million each.

Ruling party politician Sanath Nishantha's brother, a Pradeshiya Sabha member in Puttalam, has also been linked to the convtroversy. However, the Police are yet to arrest the politician's brother.

A part of the wetland protected under the Ramsar convention has been destroyed for commercial purposes.
