Collapsed Building Did Not Meet NBRO Standards: Initial Investigations Reveal

Initial investigations have revealed that the building which collapsed in Kandy had not been constructed according to proper standards.

Authorities said the construction had been done without adhering to the guidelines issued by the National Building Research Organization. The construction, according to them, had been done on a high-risk land.

Geological sceintists visited the location yesterday and conducted initial investgations into the collapse of the building.

Several families living in the area have been asked to leave their houses temporarily.

Three persons, including, a child died as the building collapsed on to another at Buwalikada, in Kandy.
