The most prestigious Cannes Festival will be held for the 70th time today. The Cannes Festival /Festival de Cannes), is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from all around the world. Obviously, the festival has become an important showcase for European films.
Founded in 1946, the invitation-only festival is held annually (usually in May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. Politics, power, fashion and many more expected. And remember, it is a place where you can always expect the unexpected!
The Cannes Film Festival has its origins in way back 1932. Jean Zay, the French Minister of National Education placed the founding stone. Since then, Cannes Festival has not failed to entertain and astonish us.
The most prestigious award given out at Cannes is called the Palme d'Or ("Golden Palm") for the best film. Usually, only a few dozen films are selected to show during the festival, often from prestigious directors. Cannes is an industry-only festival and it is not available to the general public. The festival grants credentials only to the industry people. Cannes is famous for the vivid red carpet appearances.

- Do not worry, as usually this year also Cannes will not let you down in scandals section. It has already started with the Netflix controversy (French cinema owners protested regarding the plan to premiere the two Netflix films). Last time it was banning flat shoes from the red carpet.
