The UPFA won the Matara District with 250,505 votes (52.44%) and won 5 seats. Meanwhile the UNP managed to obtain 186,675 votes and won 3 seats.

The JVP did not manage to win any seat. It received 35,270 votes.

The UPFA won all electorates in Matara District except the Matara Electorate.
