Former Colombo Judicial Medical Officer Dr Ananda Samarasekera, who is current Vice Chancellor of SAITM, has gone on leave, days after the CID raided the SAITM in search of the missing body parts of Wasim Thajudeen.
The CID recently revealed that Thajudeen's body parts had gone missing from the JMO office and had been moved to SAITM, while Samarasekara was JMO.
The CID raided SAITM and found 26 skeletal remains, and they suspect that Thajudeen's remains are also there. It is after this raid that Samarasekara has gone on leave.
Prof Deepal Weerasekara has been appointed as acting Vice Chancellor.
