National School of Business Management Vice Chancellor Dr. EA Weerasinghe said today that his institution has planned to offer medical degrees in future.

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today, he said that a fully equipped hospital will first be opened before the degree programme is launched. This will take a few years, he added.

Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Mahinda Samarasinghe, who was present at the press conference, interjected and said that it needs a political decision to launch such a programme.

The National School of Business Management (NSBM) is the Degree school of National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) and offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in Management, Computing and Engineering.

NSBM will open its new "Green University" at Pitipana on October 26.
