Bondholder Agreement Delay Unlikely to Affect Second IMF Review: Former CB Governor Coomaraswamy

Former Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy stated that a potential delay in reaching an agreement-in-principle (AIP) with Sri Lanka’s private bondholders is unlikely to affect the second review of the IMF program.

He expressed confidence in a swift AIP, possibly within the IMF review timeframe.

Dr. Coomaraswamy assured that even in case of delay, the IMF would provide breathing space, citing the country's progress in stabilizing the economy.

Sri Lanka awaits IMF assessment of its economic health alongside the second review, aiming to finalize agreements with both official and private creditors for external debt restructuring
