Sri Lanka's Postal Department Aims for Rs.21bn Revenue in 2024

Sri Lanka's Posts Department has set an ambitious target, aiming to achieve a revenue of Rs.21 billion for the year 2024.

Postmaster General Ruwan Sathkumara outlined the department's shift towards becoming a self-sustaining entity independent of Treasury funds, focusing on strategic collaborations with the private sector.

Notable among these partnerships is an agreement with global logistics giant United Parcel Service. Speaking at the launch of commemorative stamps for Hatton National Bank's 135th anniversary, Sathkumara highlighted the department's initiative to issue its first-ever first day cover stamp to a private bank.

Emphasizing the department's potential in innovative services and public awareness, Sathkumara pointed out the growing demand for business postal services, cash on delivery, and EMS services. Despite challenges such as declining traditional postal services, Sathkumara expressed confidence in the department's ability to capitalize on opportunities and bridge the revenue gap.
