FitsAir Launches Maiden Flight on Dhaka-Colombo Route

Sri Lanka's budget airline, FitsAir, marked a milestone with its inaugural flight on the Dhaka-Colombo route on April 17. Departing from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2:00 am, the flight landed at Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport at 4:30 am, carrying 120 passengers. The ceremony at Dhaka Airport was attended by notable figures including Dharmapala Weerakkody, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Bangladesh, and Asitha Ranaweera, FitsAir's Deputy Chief Executive.

The airline plans to initially operate two weekly flights on this route using Airbus A320 aircraft, offering competitive return fares starting at BDT 35,000. FitsAir aims to expand its frequency on the route in the coming months and plans to add more destinations by the end of 2024. With this launch, Bangladeshi passengers gain convenient access to FitsAir's existing destinations like Dubai, Male, and Chennai via Colombo.
