Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, has unveiled plans for the imminent commencement of a ferry service between Nagapattinam and Kankasenturai, with a launch date just two weeks away pending final preparations.

Jha emphasized the collaborative efforts between India and Sri Lanka in constructing a land connectivity corridor, marking the beginning of discussions for this strategic endeavor. While acknowledging the project's long-term nature, he highlighted the initial steps towards drafting a comprehensive project report.

In addition to the land corridor initiative, Jha underscored joint ventures in the energy sector, including the construction of an oil pipeline from south India to Trincomalee, with a vision to extend it further to the eastern province via Thalaimannar.

Moreover, Jha outlined a series of development projects aimed at enhancing communities across Sri Lanka, including a $12 million grant assistance program encompassing 30 projects spanning housing, education, and infrastructure sectors.
