University Academic Activities Grind to a Halt Amid Non-Academic Staff Strike

Academic operations across all universities have been brought to a standstill due to an ongoing strike led by non-academic staff.
Vice-chancellors confirmed that all examinations have been postponed indefinitely.
The strike, initiated by non-academic staff, commenced at noon on Thursday in protest against a 15 percent salary reduction and the absence of an increase in their monthly allowances.
Dhammika S. Priyantha, Co-Chairman of the Joint Committee of University Trade Unions, warned of further escalation in trade union actions if their demands are not addressed by May 8th, as pledged.
