Lanka Sama Samaja Party General Secretary Prof. Tissa Vitharana stated that the UPFA should alter the constitution after its election victory on August 17 and abolish the executive presidency.

 

Speaking at the inaugural UPFA election rally in Anuradhapura, Prof. Vitharana said that once the executive presidency is abolished Rajapaksa will become the all-powerful Prime Minister  in the future UPFA government.

 

Prof. Vitharana also said that the present government was following the agenda of Western powers and if it continues, Sri Lanka’s sovereignty will be threatened.
