Government Plans To Create Sinhalese-Muslim Clash Ahead Of Election, Claims Weerawansa

National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa alleged that the government had a secret plan to create a Sinhalese-Muslim clash and use the incident for the election campaign.

Speaking at a meeting in Singhapura in Kolonnawa recently, Weerawansa said that there were plans to disguise civilians as Buddhist monks and send them to the midst of a Muslim area to create a clash. Following this incident, the blame will be put on the allies of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Weerawansa said.

The NFF leader also said that those who plan these attacks were behind the unfortunate clashes during the latter part of the tenure of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Those who were responsible for instigating such incidents benefited from the Western countries for what they did, Weerawansa claimed.
