Hirunika Premachandra Says She Will Never Betray Voters By Joining Rajapaksa

Western Provincial Councilor and United National Front for Good Governance candidate Hirunika Premachandra on Sunday (02) stated that she would never betray her voters by joining Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in future

Addressing an election meeting she told that she could not stand by the side of Mahinda Rajapaksa ever.

Premachandra revealed that after gaining highest votes at the 2013 Western Provincial Council Election, she met former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and requested the post of Kolonnawa SLFP Chief Organizer. But Rakapaksa simply asked her if she also wanted to die like her father, she revealed.

She added that she was very disappointed by the answer and it never left her until she took the decision of supporting then common candidate Maithripala Sirisena in December 2014.

She further said that she wanted to join United National Party (UNP) from the day her father was murdered. But several MPs of then government convinced her to stand with SLFP, she told.

“They asked me to fight the assaulters who murdered my father by staying in the party. Therefore I agreed and competed for the provincial election under SLFP ticket,” she said.
