Five members of the Presidential Security Division were killed and another six injured when the defender they were traveling collided with two private buses in Yagodamulla area in Minuwangoda.

The accident took place this morning in the Colombo-Kurunegala road.

The defender had attempted to overtake a private bus and had collided with another bus coming from the other direction. The defender also collided with the bus it had attempted to overtake.

Two people died at the site and two more succumbed on the way to hospital.

The injured were admitted to Minuwangoda Hospital and were later transferred to Gampaha Hospital.

Another policeman succumbed to injuries in the afternoon, increasing the number of deaths to five.
