DIG U.K. Dissanayake, who surrendered to police yesterday, was remanded till September 23 on allegedly aiding a treasure hunt.

He avoided arrest for a few days before turning himself in. Police were also suspecting that he had already fled the country since he could not be located.

Several people including three police officers were already in custody for the alleged incident, which is said to have occurred in Vavuniya.
