Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare Ranjan Ramanayake today said that he would present a request to the parliament that the death penalty should be applied to those who are proved to be guilty on abusing and/or murdering children. 

The request would be presented to the parliament on October 06, the deputy minister revealed.

He released a letter sent to the Secretary General of Parliament informing him of the matter.
