Two alleged poachers were remanded after they were arrested and produced before the Tissamaharama Magistrate, following a shootout between them and wildlife officials at the Yala National Park last Friday.

One person, a 33 year-old, died in the shootout.

The police is conducting an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Wildlife Department is conducting a separate investigation.
