Sri Lanka To Push For Enhanced Economic Cooeration Within IORA

Sri Lanka assured its continuous support to boost economic cooperation among the Indian Ocean Rim countries and said that it would push the 'Blue Economy' agenda forward.

Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Harsha de Silva, during the 15th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in Indonesia, promised to continue its support and commitment towards IORA’s objectives and plans.

He also emphasised on the importance of regional cooperation among the IORA nations and also urged the countries to address the challenges faced by the community.

Sri Lanka will become an active member of IORA and push the 'Blue Ecomomy' agenda forward; meaning Indian Ocean based economics. In 2016 we plan to have a technical workshop in Colombo at the new IORA Center of Excellence at the IPS" De Silva said on his Facebook Page.
