TID Conducting Investigation On Kumaran Pathmanathan

The Attorney General’s Department today informed the Court of Appeal that the police Terrorist Investigations Division have launched an investigation on the activities on Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP.

This was revealed when the application for a writ of mandamus filed by JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath was taken up for hearing by the Court of Appeal.

The investigation is conducted on the orders of the IGP under instructions from the Attorney General.

Court ordered the AG to report of its progress on the next day of hearing, and postponed the case for February 3, 2016.

Meanwhile, the AG Department also informed court that it had obtained reports from the DIGs in all districts in the island on the 193 allegations stated in the writ application. No police investigation is currently ongoing with Pathmanathan as a suspect regarding 48 of these allegations, the AG reported to the court.
