Relatives of missing persons held a protest near the United Nations Office in Jaffna, gagging their mouths with black cloth bands, demanding their relatives be found.

This protest coincided with the visit by the team of UN Working Group on Enforced Disappearances to the city today.

A team of five members of the working group visited Jaffna today. They were planning to look into the disappearances and discuss with relatives of missing persons.

The team had invited relatives of around 20 missing persons for discussions.

Relatives were seeking assistance from international community to urge the government to find their loved ones immediately.

They also urged an international investigation in to the alleged war crimes that took place during the Sri Lankan civil war.

Meanwhile, they also rejected the report of the Missing Person's Commission appointed by the government.
