Suu Kyi's National League For Democracy Wins Majority In Myanmar

November 13, 2015

Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's party has won a majority after Myanmar's historic general election, ushering in a new era for the nation.

The National League for Democracy (NLD) has won more than 329 seats, gaining control of both houses of parliament, according to the electoral commission.

But a quarter of seats are allocated to the military, which means it will remain hugely influential.

Myanmar's constitution also bars Ms Suu Kyi from becoming president.
