President Issues Warning To Facebook Users

November 13, 2015

President Maithripala Sirisena today warned that Facebook and internet should not be used with unrestricted liberty to attack individuals maliciously.

Speaking at the opening of a conference on higher education, he pointed out that certain websites had launched a vituperative attack on the late Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera after his passing.

Although technological know-how is regarded as part of liberty, this should be used in the correct manner, he said.

Experts should research on the manner in which people enjoy this liberty, he also said.
