NPC To Give Decision On Police Attack On HNDA Students Today

November 26, 2015

The National Police Commission is expected to give its decision today on the police attack on HNDA students on October 29.

The police clashed with the HNDA students when they marched to the Ward Place, Colombo 7, from Fort Railway Station. The Police stopped the students near the University Grants Commission and later dispersed the protest by water canon, tear gas and a baton charge.

The police was accused of assaulting students who were running away from the scene. However, they denied any wrongdoing and said that the UGC was to blame for avoiding a discussion with the students.

The HNDA students complained to the NPC which appointed a three member committee to investigate the incident.
