Police Fail To Arrest Hirunika: MP Gives Statement

December 23, 2015

Police have recorded a statement from UNP Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra over an alleged abduction of a 26 year old youth in Dematagoda on Monday.

The move came amidst calls for the arrest of the Parliament in connection with the abduction. The victim also said he was assaulted by the abductors.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the Colombo District Parliamentarian shot herself in the foot stating that she was aware of the alleged abduction.

The Parliamentarian,  while denying claims that the victim was assaulted while in detention, said the incident was the result of a family dispute.

However, six of her supporters have already been remanded by Police in connection with the incident.

The vehicle used for the alleged abduction also belonged to the Parliamentarian.
